My first bike was a Schwinn. I graduated to a Schwinn with "knobbie" tires, and after a group of bikes through the years have settled on an archaic Trek softail. When growing up as a kid in Phoenix "Mountain Biking" was an unheard term. When I went to college at NAU in Flagstaff , Arizona I was involved with skiing and hiking. A few of my friends were beginning to mountain bike which at the time seemed an odd hobby. Little did I know that I would later realize the excitement that this hobby/sport can bring.
I've lived in the Grand Valley for 29 years with my wife, son, and daughter and a myriad of animals. My family enjoys skiing, camping, travels and biking together. I have been involved in coaching/assistant coaching for T-ball, girls basketball, soccer, lacrosse, marching band volunteer, and lacrosse board member. I was given the honor to be a part of the GVYC board almost 3 years ago. I have thoroughly enjoyed the GVYC club family, it's board members, coaches, riders and their families. My son is a senior and has been with the club since middle school. I have seen himself and other members grow and develop together. It is truly one of the rare team sports that provides so many skills, physical growth, appreciation/respect for the outdoor environment, fun and a strong team comradery!
